1LYS Reversible Disc Plow in Peru: Hard Soil, Level Fields, No Dead Furrow
A customer in Peru purchased a batch of 1LYS reversible disc plows in 2023, which effectively solved two problems: dead ditches in the middle of each plot and shallow infiltration on hard and dry soil.

Peru has a long history of using disc plows as one of its principal tillage implements, particularly in mechanized farming regions where irrigation, dry soils, and commercial crop production are common.https://www.unido.org/publications/ot/9636420/pdf
Why a Reversible Disc Plow Instead of a Mouldboard Plough?
The 1LYS is a two-way plough. At the headland a double-acting hydraulic cylinder turns the disc gang over, so the next pass throws soil the opposite way and closes the furrow behind it. Four things follow:
– No dead furrow, no backfurrow ridge.
Adjacent passes cover each other and leave the block level — the reason two-way ploughs are standard where blocks are small and irrigation has to run evenly.
– Slopes can be worked in one direction.
You keep ploughing downhill or along the contour instead of alternating and turning soil uphill.
– Discs roll, they do not scour.
In dry, hard, sticky or stony ground a disc cuts and rolls the furrow slice over, where a mouldboard share can ride up or clog; discs also slice through crop residue instead of dragging on it.
Customer Requirements
The customer needed a plow capable of handling challenging field conditions while improving operating efficiency.
Strong penetration in hard and dry soil
Stable operation with medium-size tractors
Quick hydraulic reversing at field ends
Uniform furrow formation for subsequent planting
Working on Site
The 1LYS reversible disc plow performed smoothly during field operation, providing consistent soil inversion and reducing unworked strips between passes.

Performance Highlights
- Hydraulic Reversing
Automatic left/right reversing improves productivity during headland turns.
- Deep Soil Penetration
Large concave discs effectively break compacted soil and bury crop residue.
- Excellent Furrow Quality
Uniform plowing depth creates an ideal seedbed for the next cultivation stage.
- Reliable Frame Structure
Heavy-duty steel frame provides stability during continuous field operation.
